what is he good at? His cutlass is meh his blunderbuss is borderline useless he moves very slow has meh health and armor no shield no ranged attacks
​(Excluding the parrot) i mean what can he be used for?

    His cutlass is wonderful in speed and damage. His blunderbuss is not useless. It's just important to remember it's not a shotgun, and is better for very close range. Look at how much HP it can take from an archer in a single shot:

    That's full HP and armor taken down a considerable amount to "Just A Flesh Wound" At lower health\armor, you can kill the archer with one shot. I use the archer as an example, because the archer being the faster ranged class, he's arguably the primary nuisance to the Captain. You use the parrot to distract just long enough to get close enough to hit him. And why you'd use your blunderbuss vs your cutlass, is that you can't parry a gun.

    I don't understand what you're talking about with the "meh" health and armor. He has health of 125 and armor of 160. For some perspective, the Heavy Knight has health of 125 and armor of 215. The Captain is almost as tank-ish as the Heavy Knight. To compare that to both the Archer and Sharpshooter, they have HP of 100 and armor of 80.

    He also does have a ranged attack, his special. Which is not only useful for dealing with a group of players, but it can also be used (depending on the map) to blow away chests. Say you've got a team that's down to their last few seconds, they've got one or two chests, you're not gonna make it to the capture zone, fire your special and blow the chests away from the capture zone. Not only that, but at low enough armor with close to full health, the special can be used to "rocket" jump. In the right situation, this could be very very useful for an escape.

    The Captain's speed is...Well... I don't disagree with you.

    I once hosted a server to test out increasing speed vs allowing him to perfect parry heavy weapons. Both in combination made him a horrifying killing machine. Giving him one or the other, might not be a bad idea. However I fear that allowing the cutlass to parry heavy weapons would come at the cost of being able to swing it as fast.

    I think the Captain is fairly great, I sure hope they don't lower him even more in a future update like lowering attack speed again, but if he were to stay as he were, I could live with it. He's a force to be reckoned with, he just needs more time to become better with. I don't think he has any truly defining attributes, but he's good for all around.

    The special has very slow travel time high drop off small blast radius and you have to actually get it first and you can only use it one time he has no real ranged attacks. As for the blunderbuss i would rather just keep on slashing than pull it out fire it and put it away again that takes too long also it has no knock back whatsoever anymore and if it does its very very little. At the end of the day he is basically a heavy knight with no shield and far less dmg and armor imo (Captain and heavy knight have the same speed which is absurd)

    Not true. The amount of power this special has to get multikills is incredible especially in more chaotic places like TW. They can preload it and take it out whenever to shoot. You aren't really going to dodge to avoid it (unless he wants to go all CoD to shoot from miles away)

    As for the blunderbuss i would rather just keep on slashing

    You may want to try what most of the smarter people do, shoot it when they are low without the armor

    Bleeding Profusely or Pushing Daises is a good indication your blunderbuss is going to hurt them quite a bit majority of the time or possibly even finish them off

    I never said it was. I was referring to when you look at them it says the status of their Health. When you look at a player, like in Spirrwell's pictures, you see the status.

    Meh, I still think it wouldn't be so bad, either that, or increased speed. Both would be insane.

    I'm not exactly up to par on my pirate history, but aren't they well known for their excellent swordsmanship? I hate that term as it makes it sound like they're gentleman, but you get the point.

    You're looking at this in terms of 1 vs 1 aren't you? Regardless, I'm going to do my thing now.

    The Captain's strengths include the deadliest melee weapon for his team, the highest health, the most dangerous firearm and a ranged distraction.

    His weaknesses include the non-2-handed nature of his cutlass, only one loaded shot and a long ol' stationary reload time, his slow speed, and the respawn time of his parrot.

    Maximizing effectiveness and minimizing liabilities via tactics involve:

    - Tanking/out-damaging opponents, finishing them off with the blunderbuss, and then reloading a flaming cannonball.
    - Distracting enemies with the parrot while they're in a fight.
    - Tanking, defending, and distracting for your team mates.
    - Letting Skirmishers lead the way.
    - Opening up as many enemies as possible to attack by disorienting them with the large stun radius of the cannonball.

    This is a defensive, diversionary play style. The threat of the cutlass and blunderbuss, and the persistence of the parrot invariably cause enemies to focus on the Captain. As the healthiest Pirate, he can afford to block attacks for quite a while, giving his team ample time to capitalize on his distraction. When his opponents are low on health, he can quickly finish them off with the blunderbuss to save his team time and effort.

    So, in conclusion, stop ignoring the blunderbuss, stop relying on the parrot for massive damage, and appreciate your team mates.

    The Sharpshooter may be able to headshot, but if he's as close to the fight as the Captain, he's basically already dead. Hence, he's often further away, which puts him in a bad position with regard to shooting enemies who're running away or taking cover. The Captain, up-close tank and all-round badass of the Pirates, doesn't have this problem.

    The rifle can headshot from far away, but the blunderbuss can follow you around corners.

    Quite. Still, I believe that their sword skills are one of their more prominent traits, and as such having the ability to parry heavy weapons might make sense with more skill.

    Hm... You know I wonder if their's a model of Westley from The Princess Bride that I could replace the Skirmisher with... Don't mind me, I just got distracted.

    He got nerfed repeatedly blunderbuss got a ton of nerfs parrot got nerfed cutlass got nerfed speed got heavily nerfed all at some point in the games life cycle. The pirates in general have been pounded with nerfs since release (They were very overpowered when the game 1st came out)

    The Captain is fine right now.

    His cutlass and blunderbuss are really powerful, whack at them a few times then shoot them in the chest, bye bye.

    Only bad thing imo is his speed, but he has a peg leg so what can you do?

    Captain is like the best class in the game mate. You must be a new player, and saying that he's "nerfed" has to be just an excuse for dying constantly ;)

    I mean a slight buff to him wouldn't hurt, he is just to weak in 1v1 situations.

    Imo captain is really only good if your in a group and you swarm people to death.
