Having No Name on Steam?

I've been very curious about this because I keep seeing this guy with no name on PVKII, but with Steam, it forces you to have a name. Is there a way to change it for just in-game or something? I'm just curious.

I think I noticed that guy too. You can change your nick in-game by pressing shift+tab and then going to settings. I never tried to leave it empty though.

It could be some kind of special character. Well, Space is the most obvious one but that one may not work. However, that works more likely than no name

% % is one of many names which will show you no name. There are some else, but I don't remember them.

Those people are funny because some of them try to break the rules or copy someone else's name and use that invisible character. They don't expect that we can see with steam id and steam profile the differences between the two and ban them.

it's symbols from the character map, but one the characters is invisible, not be confused with a space.

as an example, you can try to copy and paste the triangles up there and it's more than likely not going to come out properly.

Edit: after submitting the post, the code doesn't work all on this forum lol. try it for yourselves in steam though if you wish, jsut don't do anything dumb with the information. hold left alt. and press 255 and then release. that is the shortcut for the invisible character.

The Alt+255 does indeed create an invisible character, but Steam does not count it as one. And %% changes your name to unnamed while in-game. I know back in the Quake days that you could just type name in the console and change it that way. Although that clearly doesn't work with PVKII, perhaps there's some hack. I don't know, it's interesting.

Ah, you have to go Character Map (just search it from inside Windows), change the font to Miriam Fixed and select the empty looking Left-to-Right mark. Copy and paste. Hm, cool.

well you can also change your name in game using the console, but i'm not telling you how to do that, buwahahahaha

haha, yeah, was jsut abotu to say, "wait a minute!" yeah, you dont need the _ but yeah. have fun kiddo's. just dont abuse it, because, we always know yoru steam ID's.

Funny, I actually tried that and it didn't work. Although I didn't realize you actually had to be in a server for it work.
