Please, explain to me how having to charge a full weapon attack with a must-hit time within a second and attack then deal 5 damage is not overpowered. There is a reason why the PP system is getting changed in the next update with Man At Arms.
Okay. A fully charged strike through a block does a fair bit more than 5 damage. As for the time window, do actually know how long it is? It's long enough for the slowest class to run 3m+ and land a strike. If you need more time than that, then this game is too fast paced for you.

Many (if not most) people manage to handle it fairly well - I, presonally, do an UNcharged attacks pretty rarely, mostly when someone tries to run away and I need to act fast. Like Crackpunch said, you have plenty of time to perform a fully charged attack. Key is to think and try to be at least one step ahead of your enemy.
Mostly when i play i see a pattern in how people attack, they tend to swing to their right. So obviously i try to parry that way, or at least block.
When i'm a skirm i have a tendency to use the right and left swing too much, resulting in a pp in my face. People usually block right or left, so i try to use the overhead and the stab, mostly a charged one.
BUT i still have problems fighting gestirs, as i can only figure out one of the attacks, which is the right stab. The rest look too similar in combat for me to do anything about it. And if i get a parry in as a skirm i dont really have that many options, as the range of the spear compared to the cutlass is big, when i parry i'm most of the time not close enough to get the attack in. But of course i can use the stun as an advantage if i have a special. I have no problem with pp most of the time, i just dont like it when they praise themselves as the best when they cant even manual.
That's it for my rant, hope you like it
I've contacted the owner of the server, we've been discussing this for about 20 minutes. We have come to the conclusion of removing the rule of PP whoring unless you are a heavy knight.
The rule has gotten a bit softer too and now requires more whoring to get any consequences.
If you have any questions regarding our servers, admins ,group you can reach us here.
"We changed the block system after 2.2 and nobody liked it, this is why we are changing it back/modifying it"
1. beta testers don't make any descions like that.
2. even if he could, he didnt say next update. (unless you are leaving that part out.)
i was talking with a developer one time and they stated that they eventually do want to change the combat system in the future, but it won't be next update and it won't be the old 2.2 system, i can say that with up-most confidence. It's still a rough idea and as far as i know, only this 1 developer wants that change, and unless i'm mistaken, 1 developer can't change the game thereself.
I haven't heard anything about the combat system being changed in the near future, or even any theories. The system is, personally, pretty stable as it currently stands.
If all the classes are considered to be able to block at their pleasure, heavy knight shouldn't be an exception because the strategies involved confronting parry-happy people applies on a parry-happy heavy knight as well.

Perfect Parry abuse? If you say that you can as well call the archer arrow abuser because he shoots arrrows. This is ridiculous.
Once upon a time, when I was a nub, I was also complaining about manual block and was convinced that autoparry makes the game more fun. Until I learned to block manually and became conviced of the exact opposite.
So learn to play and stop crying.

i agree with you, i think the combat system is fine the way it is. Don't fix what isn't broken, right? apparently the dev thinks otherwise though. we'll just have to wait and see.
Its another sad day in gaming when people can't adapt to the game they play. How about no swinging swords??? How about no specials... to op!!!
Something to do while playing is maybe to watch how people move and act,, maybe learn what your doing wrong cause if someone is pp you alot maybe you need to reiterate your strategy and not be a bitch to the players stomping you. Also fridge PONIES! -ninja loves u all
They say there are no ninjas in PVK. I beg to differ.
It's sad how nobody of you have realized it yet, PP is a nice addition to the game which makes it more rewarding and unique. What I am trying to cast light on is that it's far too easy to perform a PP, PP'ing should be something out of honor, not just holding mouse2 before an enemy attacks every goddamn time.

Honor, honor... people usually use this word as an argument in similar threads, define it. Also, let's name things properly - your problem is auto parry automatic block direction, not PP, right? It's overused acronym here and may confuse other people about real point of our discussion. If that's the reason - we have simple case here. Force manual parry on your server (I mentioned it already few posts earlier), end of story. Manual parry is not that complicated to perform, but you do have to get used to it. So here we come to another point - what would you say, when facing an experienced player, who is able to use manual parry TOO well?

while i agree wintersun, to make a server and say "Don't use mechanics built into the game that aren't nearly as bad as they where before" is borderline retard.

For anyone dwelling on this heap of shirley that was solved a week ago, the PP rule was removed.

I think it's the same thing, but writing "auto parry" is just shorter. I used it in my previous post, could be misleading too.
