I already own half life source and i don't wanna pay for half life again just to try and play the old pvk, but is there a other way to play it without owning the original half life?

O one more question dose it have to be half life to be able to play pvk or can it be an other game by valve with the same engine like tfc,dd,or cs?

I've used Counter-Strike for it. Although it was the non-Steam version.
