Hello, friends!
It's been a wee while since we've put news up, so here it be.
A little problem that's affected PVKII for a while is getting your team to
act like a team - to go after objectives, to be aware of enemies, to defend, to protect chest carriers and so on. Part of an ongoing initiative we're expanding on with PVKII's development, what with the new voices and such, is to bring more personality and flavour to the game whilst simultaneously encouraging
objective-based teamplay and functionality (and FUN).
We're implementing team-specific Announcer voices to let you know what's going on in-game whether you're in a
scrap with some cheeky Pirates or running boldly away from some
furious Vikings!
We've called upon some of the mightiest names, the most ferocious warriors from the world of themed metal music. Our Knight team announcer is known as
Lord Jaldaboath, Grand Guitarist Inquisitor, Knight of the Keyboard Realms, Officer of Oratory and Sovereign Grand Songwriter General of his gloriously eponymous musical troupe,
Jaldaboath.
Listen to them! Buy their things if you like, too!

STS Site for more information!
That's all for today. Oh - do
stop by our forum on your way out and leave your impressions of all this lark. We'd appreciate it verily.
We'll be showing off who we've got lined up for the other announcers soon. You'll like 'em!

I'm curious how this turns out. You adress the right problem there, too. I wonder, if the announcer would change anything, though. I encountered already players, who were killing rather than doing the objective on purpose...
Will this be combined with any visuals? like text,an appearing drawing or even a video showing lord jaldboath how he speaks to ya?
then again, it is PVKII, so it doesnt have to make sense!

What about deaf players? I think there should be some text on screen, telling you whays going on. maybe when your not in battle.
Also... write to alestorm to see if they can do the pirate voices XD
and tyr for the vikings XD

Denshin is a rather overpowered class.

We're currently working on making Denshin less OP.
Example lines;
"Hear ye, hear ye! Our territory is being captured!"
"Territory ahead! Capture it!"
"Odin demands more territory!"
Guaranteed idioticy since 1995.

way ahead o' ye
We extort, we pilfer, we filch, and sack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Maraud and embezzle, and even high-jack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Good question.

Oh noes it's already difficult to stand their songs sung by skirmishers.
Kind of amuses me that every faction of pvkii has its own metal music. Now that Jaldaboath is in, maybe Alestrom come too. And as suggested Tyr would be the natural expansion

the team has been in talks with Alestorm for ages
Nay you again
Nagzar seems to be undead, as he keeps coming back. Hurry, we must hide 'his logic' before he smokes it.

Don't get me wrong, TF2 is one of the best multiplayer games on the pc and borrowing ideas from Valve is fine.
However, I don't think an announcer makes sense and may confuse players more than help them. "MAKE THE VOICES IN MY HEAD STOP!"
I think we may be able to salvage a different idea from TF2, the objective based response rules from players.
"Get on point stupid!" "Get on the friggin point!"
Even having the player's own character say what objective needs to be done would make more sense.
I think there should also be a system in place for how often the commands are spouted, depending on how far the player is from the objective, if the player is already participating in another objective, and how long ago the last objective based shout was said by himself or any nearby players. If it gets too spammy, it will just be annoying.

Or just have the option to turn it off.
