I actually support the idea of making the PVKstats more deep-going with content, but I don't like that your suggestion only involves the "competitive" side. If there would be an enchancement however, I would like it to be team/objective-based. Objective-based gaming should be encouraged, espescially with the new patch coming out.

    Therefore I voted no.

Yes, this one of the suggestions in my earlier post. But i'm sorry it didn't occur better in this post/poll.
Maybe that should have an separate poll.

But we should all agree that knowing how many parrots you have killed is not so necessary and that place could instead be filled up with better information on the frontpage of the statssite.

Oh well, put a -1 in the yes. I didn't understand the question because it wasn't a question at all.

I disagree. I think it's more fun to know how many parrots you've killed. Why exactly is KDR better information?

    I voted no.

I like the things from who killed the most parrots/hook kills and physics kills.

I voted I'm not sure, but hanging towards the no.

I have seen many players quitting and reconnecting often just to get better stats. With a top K/D it would be even worse.

You mean you can get points for healing, but without an option to heal someone?
    Probably not...

You are probably referring to the scoreboard showing your total points (to the others) instead of kills & deaths.
    dragonattacksig04.pngrage.jpg
  • I voted yes, I would like to see top 10 kdr's and kills along with other top 10's to make it more fun. Also I don't understand why physics kills are even on there only three people have gotten one and I don't even know what that is...

I can understand that people that don't play this game so often or have bad score are most unwilling to accept these ideas just beacuse of pure envy.
To not indulge other players that should have some honor for putting down their hours on a game like this is just, i would say, mean.

Actually, I don't see a problem with it. What does it really change? k/d whores will always exist. IF they want to have some "pride" out of all their "hard" work, let them have it.

I don't think you understand just how simple it really is to get a high KDR. It's also a video game, so I don't understand where honour plays a role. This isn't an RPG where you're rewarded with stats for having more hours - it's an FPS. I'm also assuming that pvkstats was created to help the developers passively gather public insight into how the game is played, and use it for balancing.

Also I honestly doubt that those who don't play this game often chose "No" out of "pure envy".
  • i disagree with you mayday, most of the time the player with the higher kdr has more skill than lower kdr's.

and it's not so simple to have a high kdr, otherwise everyone would have one.

Devs had nothing to do with pvkstats initially. Only reason it exists is because I ported it from another version I had running for hidden source. They od have access to specific balance stats that the public dont see, though. AFAIK it's used extensive by map devs to tweak their maps.

Most of the time, yes, but I don't believe it's a good indication of skill.

It's also very simple to have a high KDR when that's your only goal.

Is it easy for a random nub that has played this game for 2-3 months to have high KDR? Not a chance.

But you got a point about Skill and KDR.

In many cases having high KDR says more about the players gaming style than off his skill.
Having a high KDR and NEVER doing the objective, never leaving the near of your base on the map is a player which i would say is a lowskilled player.

Managing to have high KDR and playing the maps as they are allowed to be played is highskilled.

So I think that a rankingsystem based on the players SKILL should instead be implemented, but this requries both KDR-information (which we have) and then the objecticve-information (number of booties fetched, number of territories that has been conquered, grailkills and so on) - this later one which we don't have.

Wheter not the KDR-ranking says anything about skill i think it will be more interesting to have that anyway, instead of having top10 suicides, top10 parrotskilled.
I mean by all interesting things that u actually can have on a rankinsystem page, PVKstats manage to have the least interesting. It's almost amazing.

2-3 months is plenty of time to become sufficiently capable of having a high kdr.

I just found Faravid 90-3 against an AFK player on ISLAND PARTY, and left as soon as I joined and killed him twice. This is the perfect example of how KDR and skill do not go hand in hand.

    Heh.
  • hey, killing AFK players takes more skill than one would think, you've got to avoid the other team seeing you and it gets pretty difficult when the AFK spawns in different areas nearby after you kill them. you also take the risk of being called an AFK bandit, which is frowned upon in pvk.
