First off:
This is still in progress, an old minecart bridge over a small ravine. It needs some supports to hold it up and better intergration to the landscape.

Model is looking pretty sweet too. Maybe some more polys could be added to the wood beams to make them look less box like?

Anyway, today I spent the whole day working on PG! I finished the bridge, sorted out the terrain around it, built the rails either side of it, and reworked the back of the pirates spawn. Where before there were two ladders, there are now two sloped routes to take, screen shots to come tomorrow

Firstly, the rails straight over land look a bit weird, I will be making an overlay of railway sleepers to add under the rails, some more exposed out of the dirt than others so they look nice and old/worn
The new routes up the pirate spawn are quite dark, I will be pushing up the ambient light somewhat, and thinking of ways to increase visibility here, we'll see.
Secondly, the skybox needs a fair bit of work, There will be a large rock formation/mountain behind this area, currently theres just a few trees.

The reason I dropped off the face of the planet re: this map, I took a sabbatical to France to do snowboard training. Upon my return I was made redundant as there were no projects to return to work on.
Hence, I am now at home doing freelance stuff to pay the rent.
This means I have a LOT more time to do PVKII stuff, one thing I want to do is finish this map, both so that you guys actually get to play it, and two so I can use it as a portfolio piece.
Anyhow, I have literally spent a week+ reworking the trees, I have never been happy with them! I found a guy who made some awesome low poly trees for a Cryengine map (UltimaRage) and decided to try something similar!
For now I will leave you with a silhouette comparison whilst I place the new trees in the map. They're a lot more realistic in proportion as you can see so they'll need nicer placement for the best effect!
