That happened to me too.

The pvkii folder in SourceMods belongs to 2.2. 2.3 is installed to your /Pirates, Vikings and Knights II folder. So, you don't have to uninstal the previous beta to play the new one.

The problem may be in SourceTV on either of two servers. If enabled, it's usualy bound to port 27020, unless tv_port variable of the server is set to a different value.

Well, something like that happend to me too, however it was not oriental text, but a huge block of squares. And it didn't stack in console. I don't think it's realy a problem.

I'm not sure if it would work, but try to set an -insecure parameter for PVKII. (Go to "My games" tab, click on PVKII, select "Properties" and "Set parameters".)

2.2 IS the latest version, and you can download it here. 2.3 is still in development/beta-testing stage. You can find information about it on the main page or here.
