The ideal behind this map (if you care) is the joining of three very different environments/themes via the three different races.
This is the first beta, so expect more content and balancing in the future.

The only thing I'm worried about is the size. People are going to have to come here if they want the map, and even then it's only P vs. K. We're working on the Viking's spawn right now exclusively so that it will be complete once PVK 2.3 is released. However, that's only going to add to the size of the map. We'll see, only time will tell.

Thanks! I've been working on this map for what seems like an eternity.
In mapping news, things have been at a bit of a slow down for the moment due to personal complications. Plus currently Zatoichi's the only with a copy of the Viking's spawn .vmf. So I can't work on it till I get his latest copy. So that's where we're at right now, hope to have more for you all in the future!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've virtually lost all contact from Zatiochi and he has the only copy of the viking's spawn :/. However I've been hard at work improving the map the way it is currently. Just as a teaser here's the new castle prison...

There's a bug in the map that sometimes causes there to be five chests instead of four though. I had the same problem in dragon attack (but due to other causes probably), and I have a fix for it. So if you're interested, PM me.

I noticed it was very hard to get the chests from the Knights, to remedy that problem the Knight spawn in a brand new room outside of the main Castle.

Aww, but I like how unrealistic it looks. In that respect I think it matches the rest of the map.

Oh, it is not that i would not like unrealistic maps, and this is just a detail anyways.
And when will you have the viking area finished? Because this map is the best custom map so far imo, and I'd like to play it.

But Sanctuary was made by Jahhur. Even though Sanctuary isn't an official PVKII map, it was still made by an official PVKII mapper.

Nice job reworking the map! it looks a lot better now.... but you really should implement the viking team, just pirates and knights.....

Really? I think It looks completely better.
Its a really boring picture, its like 70 Rock and wall, with no visual detail. Before hand, you could see a glimpse of vegitation which made it exciting.
It needs more of a spruce...err..... Bruce

this map is so good, it has nice looking, it's funny to play and it fits with the game style, it looks like an official, why the devs don't put this map official in 2.3? it will be cool to have such a good map to show for the steam release.
i think the same thing about pvk_sanctuary, those map needs to be official and they are a lot better than the contest maps.

Thanks, though I'm having a bit of a dry spell with ideas, and I'm not sure how I want everything to look. On top of that, I've been too occupied or too tired to work on the map lately.

Just make a more interesting shape for the base/top of the chest stands. Make them octagonal with a beveled edge and use a contrasting texture to make them more interesting.

Well as many of you may know, Spring term '09 is almost over (finals next week *shudders*) ANYWHO, that means with school out of the way the map can get back into full swing! (yes, that means the Viking's spawn)
Nice update!
First pic, inside the arches its like pitch black. I'd set the arch models to no cast shadows, at least thats what springs to mind to fix the problem.
Maybe use a small fire, or a dropped torch near the bush? Its hard to see, but it doesn't really need it, just an idea

I just wanted to give you all a heads up, I have been working on something special for the map that I'm not quite ready to show at this time. However I will tell you that it will change the map entirely. Now that school's outta the way I'll be working full speed on the Viking's spawn and I think you'll all be very pleased. Till next time!

I can assure you that only the Pirates spawn looks like pvk_Island. The rest of the map looks nothing like any PVKII map there is.

Ok, I think it's about time to give you guys a teaser of the new and final knights spawn design!

Also, here's a glimps of the chest room. I had to build an archway on a 45 degree angle, while keeping everything lined up perfectly. Needless to say it took a while, also it's a WIP

I have to say that the pirate spawn has lost alot of its charm for me.
However, the new Knights area (outside) looks just WOW, loving it!
