I'd say it would be too much work for the dragons to be killable by fire, for too little reward.
Also there would be a bigger risk of the drivers just battling in the air against the other dragon, instead of carpooling your teammates.

I think dragons should be able to kill each other since they're not on the same team.
I also think dragons should get some kind of alternate attack, or maybe when they flap their wings taking off they blow people on the ground a little bit.

Sorry for the bump

I found a bug in this map, whenever i start it i get "Bad surface extents on texture dorian/d_blend_rockgrass_nodetail". Am i supposed to have something else to fix this?

We know, it has to do with displacements being too big. It's a probelm with the Orange Box Source engine. It's fixed in the next version, but it will be some time before that's released.

Yeah, you can't play the map on 2.3, you'll have to wait for beta 5.

Speaking of which, progress has been going very slowly lately (as you could've guessed). The dragons feel close to being done (apart from the animations), but there's one problem I currently can't get around: when you have an elevated ping (say around 100), you don't always get in the dragon's seat when you press E. You often have to try several times, which seriously limits your ability to do quick get-aways. It's not game-breaking, but still annoying. The dragon works fine on low pings, but since players find themselves on higher ping servers more often than not, I will have to try to fix this first.

can't wait for it to come out in servers.
P.S.can we use it not just for booty,but also for last man standing?
The sudden death is when the dragons break free and setting everything aflame(Ouch,3rd degree burns!),all riders will experience a sort of difficulty controlling the dragons and the other dragons will attack all dragons with riders by dragon fire,the ballista will be useless(as the dragons will torch that area first=D)

That would be pretty much impossible without coding.

And we have plans for other dragon maps btw. a tutorial map and a deathmatch map.

Aaaalright, I fixed this sucker.  icon_yarrpirate.gif Not sure what's next on my list. I need to get the fire breath particle system into 2.3 somehow, since custom content like this is currently unachievable. I think Cracka is on the job though, so there's not much I can do on that front. I also need to add the dragon's animations, but those aren't all done either, so not much I can do there either.


I think I'll make the new ballista.

Do a crosshair please. And make it move with along with the mouse. And dont say it's impossible bla blah. I know you're good at doing impossible stuff (like the kill reward stuff etc)

Kill reward stuff was done by the devs (SetCauser output), so don't get cute.  icon_pirate.gif But anyway, there already is a crosshair that moves along with the mouse. It's always at the center of your screen. :3





I've decided to take a break from fixing difficult stuff and started to make the dragon tutorial map instead.

I know, I was just toying with you.  tongue.gif Progress on the tutorial map is going fairly well and I'm having a lot of fun working on this for a while. It's a nice change from always walking on the edge of what's possible with the Source engine.


The map will get its own thread once Trilo has done some visuals for it; at the moment it's all just big dev brushes.

Here's a first screenshot of the current state of the tutorial map (very early stage, obviously). It shows the part of the tutorial that teaches you how to aim the fire pillar.



You have to burn the 3 knights on the tower without lifting off.

did you see the sticky OB default automatically loads in a particles/particle_mapname.txt for the map's particle manifest.
