Personally I don't think 2.2 is better, but I know what you mean.
I have the same feeling with MSN messenger. The new version of MSN is just awfull so I use the older 7.5 version.

Yeah. I stopped using MSN messenger for like half a year just because of that. I need to get myself one of the older versions as well.

Not a bad idea. I wouldn't add it to the rotation, but the list for if anyone wants to play. Do I gotta find beta 4 somewhere or was it the one you used to host on your comp?

Thanks for the 2.2 server Thief! Great idea! I'll have to drop by and join the 2.2 buffs for a game.

P.S. I thoroughly beat "unwanted v2.2 stepchild" before discarding it, then gave all it's toys to v2.3 stepchild. Mwa ha haaaaaaa~

Beta 4 is the latest released version, but it doesn't work on the upgraded Orange Box source engine, thus not also in 2.3.
The map can be found in the custom maps forum. Beta 4 isn't perfect, it has some bugs, but most aren't that bad. And yes, that's the one I used to host.
