Reconstruction of a Dutch castle
I'm working on a reconstruction of the late medieval Castle of Egmond, of which only the foundations remain today in Egmond aan de Hoef, Holland. While parts of the ruin were still standing people have made drawings over time, so there's more than enough reference to make an accurate reconstruction of what the castle might have looked like.
It will be deathmatch, and here a preview:

And my reconstruction will be how it looked in it's final state, from 1500 to 1573.
"flat and over crowded" sounds abit like where i come from lol.

I put a lot more detail in it now, mainly in the front gatehouse and the two square towers, I've also started on the inside of the castle. Though, it's really hard to reconstruct all of it, everything must be accurate, but with all of the sources I've gathered I should be able to make a pretty accurate reconstruction.

The basic layout is quite nice already, it just looks a bit unfinished. 'Course, I guess that' why it's a work in progress, not a work in finished.

ok. looks really good, you're good at getting proportions right. Did you visit the site?
some new tree models are coming in the next beta, that would make the map look good - rather even better.
I hate when you get that annoying white line on brushes eh.

Most of that would get auto-cut-off by the source engine, you do know that? People would see it as pvk_castle_o or something.

No, it's not too long, the name views perfectly, I've tested it.
And yes, I've used the brick texture alot, but what can I do? the castle was made of bricks, though the bircks used for the real castle were a bit more brown, but this was the best texture I could find, I'll probably need a custom texture, but for now this will do. And the only variation was in the size of bricks here and there, wich I will implement when I'm almost finished.
Make it into a siege map when the siege gameplay mode comes around!
