Huscarl Shield [WiP]

Just thought I'd give everyone a glimpse of the Huscarl's shield, It's a work in progress, the back is so detailed because it's for the first person view model. Still deciding how to go about the strap, whether to add a back strap or a arm strap.

Nice model, how about a back strap cause then it will look better when he gets another weapon out and it wont look weird with an arm strap somehow slung on his back.
On the other hand it would look a bit weird with such a small shield, i guess an arm strap then since the heavy knight has it the same and his is big, besides he doesnt have it on his back does he? he just magically produces it biggrin.gif.

    Keep up the good work.

Steven Segal should be the joker in the next Nolan batman film, he has the weight of many successful years of acting behind him,( well he has weight behind him at least), and I think he would do it perfectly:

"and my father turns to me and says 'why so chubby?', comes at me with the pamphlet, 'why so chubby'. Sticks the pamphlet in my mouth, 'lets put a diet on that belly of yours' aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnd........why so chubby?"

Looking zazzy. Question: Assuming it's made of wood, will the shield take visual damage when attacked? Like, if you block a cutlass swing, will there be a little cut mark on the shield, or would that be too hard to program?

    [Cool picture]

Looks awesome, can't wait to see the huscarl himself

To my knowledge viking shields didn't have seams inbetween the planks of wood, the vikings were quite crafty, so I think those seams can just be textured on the shield.

I've seen tons of refs with seams and without. These are from the Gokstand Ship burial find.

The cracks on the model are more exaggerated then what is referenced or found, and look alot deeper then they are because of the lighting.

You realise that those are 1000 year old shields that have been rotting for ages. Though, I guess it's fine with seams.

    Btw, another question...

Will the shield have plain colours like this?
    image

Or will it have a cool marking like this?

I'd love to see plain colours wink.gif. The seams are ok I guess though I think they shouldn't be that precisly even or similar.
What I ask myself: Shoulnd't u see the seams from the back?

Really depends on the shield and how its made, if it has a covering over the back or front and then thats painted over etc.

    As for colors, plain colors.

Lookin good as always, but just 1 question. Will the Huscarl's axe be stronger & slower than the berzerkers, just like in the good old days? (im still pissed at you guys for not putting in the hammer for berzerker dry.gif ....

This is pretty good. I say use yellow and blue colorings. I can't wait for a huge media release. I wanna see the Huscarl and a lot of other stuff I've been hearing about.

Not too shabby. A more decorated reskin for the Jarl would be nice I think.

Actually that bugs me too, I wonder if they will restore the 2h hammer for the zerkers and make the 2h axe exclusive for the huscarls?

And I, too, am among the hammer-grievers. When will I be able to humorously yell "HAMMER TIME!" again?
