Are the guns just reskinned bows now?

The guns used to have a unique thing about them due to the fact they were hitscan but now ever since bullet travel they just feel like bows that somehow do less damage than bows lol. Isn't the main advantage of the pirates that they have guns? Make all guns hitscan again or "make guns great again" cuz they been nerfed like 1000 times since release back in 2007

      Yeah I agree with you, I never liked projectile guns. I think it introduces a little bit of latency to guns as well that doesn't belong.

      The projectile-based guns have been that way for ages and they make sense. These aren't glocks, these are flintlocks and powder-based muzzle-loading guns.

      Also using hitscan would make aimbot cheaters even more awful.

      Revolutionary war era muskets were only ~1/3 as fast as modern rifles in terms of muzzle velocity, but that's still like 900fps. 900fps wouldn't make a difference for anything except the very longest biggest maps source engine can handle, yet the ssrifle can't even accurately shoot a moving target at one side of lts_cathedral from the other.

      Personally I think the flintlock weapons should've stayed hitscan, hitscan just feels more crisp and plus it gives the pirate weapons some unique flair that no other team has. But now they just have projectile weapons like everyone else. Also, there seem to be far more "phantom hits" where you hear the sound of hitting an enemy but the attack does no damage with the modern flintlicks. However I think rng spread is a much bigger issue overall when it comes to discussing flintlocks, I could definitely live with projectile flintlocks if it meant removing rng spray.

      About hackers - I've only seen one aimbot hacker in the past 2-3 years and he still stayed at the bottom of the scoreboard because the skill in ranged classes comes from dodging more than it comes from aiming good. Hitscan weapons wouldn't make any difference there because the limiting factor for aimbot isn't projectile travel time (which is almost never a factor for flintlocks in pvkii anyway), its the fact that there is an angry man with an axe tearing them asunder faster than they can shoot :/

    • Gun projectil speed is so fast that you can't really see latency. it's make gun easiest range weapon.

      I see very often AIM hack, try to play against bot and you will see how it's hard to evade AIM shoot, it's very efficient in PVKII because ranged weapon don't have random impact and projectile damage are insane.
