I put a warning on my server's MOTD about this, but I figured I'd post it here. I have implemented Slammin Butt Pirates' ban list that was supposed to take effect on 3/16/16. I didn't realize it needed a server restart to take effect and so it only kicked in recently, but I just wanted to let people know that this is the reason why they may be banned.
Do you have it set where the blocking method defaults to inverted keys movement? I noticed no matter what I change it to, only on your server, it stays inverted. Are you aware of this? Could be a bug, I'm not sure, every other server blocks how I have it set in options.
My server is manual parry only, but you're saying that it only allows the movement keys inverted version of it? You can't set it to use the mouse or anything? Because if that's the case, that is a bug. Auto parry should be the only thing disabled.
Edit: Yeah, I just tested it myself on my own server, that is definitely a bug, I will try to look into fixing it. Thanks for reporting it!
My server is dedicated to the hardcore island player who likes a bit more of a challenge. Honestly my opinion on auto parry is that it's stupid. Not everyone shares that view, but it is mine.
It's as silly as it would be adding an auto attack direction. All I'm doing is putting all the control into the player's hands as opposed to a more automated system. It allows you to play off the fact the person parrying is human.
Anyway, this discussion is off topic, my server is manual only and that's final.

Actually I would create an LTS server with my 33 players, but the waiting would be horrendous. I think Freeze Tag would be a COOL addition to LTS as an option.

Just because you hate auto-parry, it doesn't mean everybody hates it and will share "your opinion". I got friends who like it, and of course I like it myself.
I don't see how 33 players with instant-spawn, and as a bonus of sorts, most of them being European yet this server is American, is for "hardcore players".
Be wary, I'm not defending myself at all nor my friends, only slightly, yet I could understand it as thought of that. I just want a better experience for me and my friends (this is not too contradictory). I can't say about the rest, I bet they're careless and the majority sadly completely unaware and unable to express themselves.
Tell me, is it wrong that even if you and I are very stubborn I still want to enjoy in your server with auto-parry allowed and manual being optional?
And to settle the score somehow, if you want some of my "likes" from you, I'm glad you (temporarily?) changed the map to 24/7 Cara, so I thank you for that.

Its your server, your rules, I like the idea of insta respawn, but I laughed a bit when you described it hardcore. I played it many times, and comparing to euros, or even sbp, it has a huge base of dinahs. I guess you are considering this hardcore in another way, for example with this parrying- which, as I mentioned, I am not understanding right now.

To expand upon that, as a player anybody can play casually or non-casual. But I've made it an environment that allows more of a hardcore environment. However it may make more sense to say it's more competitive than "hardcore" PVKII itself is silly in nature.
Eh, I don't see the harm in saying since people were actually trying to join it earlier. We're currently in RC, or release candidate mode. Meaning we're releasing very soon. There's a few minor issues left to deal with, and unless something bizarre happens, which has happened in the past, we should be ready to release by early May.
Auto-block disabled is cool, but do you know what would be cooler?

No it doesn't, you have ranged weapons, and if you're bent on using melee, you could become equally skilled at parrying. Then it's going to be a battle of attack->parry->back away, and go nowhere fast. Yes I know you get stunned, but quite often you can back away enough to escape a perfect parry counter.
But again, ranged weapons. It's not like you can parry those or parry with those. Though honestly it would be kind of funny if you could cut the archer's arrows.
Thats how it should be, experience to be better... If someone gets destroyed it just means you need more experience...
From internal testing long time ago this was shown to be a really really bad change, one only had to parry and never attack to always win the vast majority of the time.
Hey Spirrwell. I know manual parry is fun and skill-based, but is there any way that you can consider not forcing it server-wide? It puts the knights and pirates at a significant disadvantage over the viking gestirs due to their muted directional attacks.
I'm sorry, I really prefer it to be server wide. There's always the ability to have the HUD enabled which can show attack direction. Also I believe there's some custom animation thingy that makes it easier to see the Gestir's attack direction, but I've only heard about it, never tried it out. Regardless, I'm keeping the server the way it is.
I may create another server that allows auto parry. If that splits the player base, I'll accept it, but I just don't like auto parry.
Another thing I've been potentially planning on doing is having kills give HP\armor to give it a more balanced feel. I know people complain about how instant respawn gives defenders an advantage, but I think it works both ways.

Just letting people know that for miscellaneous reasons, this server has moved from Atlanta, GA to New York, NY. This should bring the server much closer to the east cost and therefore slightly better ping to those in some countries overseas. Somewhere between 700-800 miles closer.
I've changed up my servers to do a bit of rebranding. The 33 player thing has caught on and I haven't really been playing a whole lot lately. I've decided to dial it back. I wanted to do something new and exciting with this concept, but more and more servers are following and so I don't see my idea as being "new and exciting" any more. My servers will be more traditional. No more 33 players, no more instant respawn, and autobalance is back on. Manual parry is here to stay though.
I also plan to put up some competitive servers of my own when we do the upcoming 3.6 release which should include a competitive option for servers.

Current max limit is 24, 18 feels optimal for me considering current official map sizes. Debatable of course.

I've always wanted an instant respawn 33 player manual parry server. I wanted instant respawn because I hate respawn time, a major reason I also dislike LTS. I wanted 33 players, because it's utter chaos and makes the game much harder. (inspiration came from instant respawn 32 player TF2 ctf_2fort servers) And manual parry is simply how PVKII was originally made, and personally it makes more logical sense to me.
As long as I am paying for the server, it's going to be this way. I'm sorry, that's in no way an attitude towards you, just simply how it's going to be.

I am using auto parry all the time, and I have seen no difference at all at your server, what do you mean with this being disabled? Or am I breaking the rules, as the server rules are not to use auto parry?
Its your server, your rules, I like the idea of insta respawn, but I laughed a bit when you described it hardcore. I played it many times, and comparing to euros, or even sbp, it has a huge base of dinahs. I guess you are considering this hardcore in another way, for example with this parrying- which, as I mentioned, I am not understanding right now.
Anyway, in response to your hardcore thing, I'm guessing you might've been responding before I made my last post.
To expand upon that, as a player anybody can play casually or non-casual. But I've made it an environment that allows more of a hardcore environment. However it may make more sense to say it's more competitive than "hardcore" PVKII itself is silly in nature.

But again, ranged weapons. It's not like you can parry those or parry with those. Though honestly it would be kind of funny if you could cut the archer's arrows.

From internal testing long time ago this was shown to be a really really bad change, one only had to parry and never attack to always win the vast majority of the time.

I may create another server that allows auto parry. If that splits the player base, I'll accept it, but I just don't like auto parry.
Another thing I've been potentially planning on doing is having kills give HP\armor to give it a more balanced feel. I know people complain about how instant respawn gives defenders an advantage, but I think it works both ways.

I've changed up my servers to do a bit of rebranding. The 33 player thing has caught on and I haven't really been playing a whole lot lately. I've decided to dial it back. I wanted to do something new and exciting with this concept, but more and more servers are following and so I don't see my idea as being "new and exciting" any more. My servers will be more traditional. No more 33 players, no more instant respawn, and autobalance is back on. Manual parry is here to stay though.
I also plan to put up some competitive servers of my own when we do the upcoming 3.6 release which should include a competitive option for servers.
