  I assume that people have tried combating them in the past. So, why doesn't the administrator just close registrations and only allow people who dedicate themselves to editing the wiki (through request on this here forum) in by making them an account with his or her administrative powers? I wanted to do some work on the wiki, but knowing that it's getting overrun by spambots is a bit discouraging.

  Is he also the server administrator? If not, I'm sure someone on the team could find a way to create themselves an administrative account on the wiki.

  I am also admin, but don't have the powers to do anything about it.

  Why not backup the necessary data (there doesn't seem to be a lot you'd have to backup) and then reinstall the wiki software with new limitations?

  The problem is more in that the Wiki is getting flooded rather than with what.

  I tried disabling account registrations, but either someone re-enabled them or the bots went back to using old accounts or something. At this point the best idea may be to save what content we can and start the wiki fresh (with account registration approvable only by admins from the start).

  I've cleaned it up, but can't guarantee that all pages are back to normal. I've also disabled new user registration.
