hey guys! just finished a montage i threw togeather in a few hours of playing/editing. hoping to get more people into this game once they see how fing cool it is :P tell me what you think! Plan on making more, gonna start frapsing in a bit here.

    i record in 1080, but i haven't made many videos before. gotta figure out how to render in hd without having a huge file

    Many videos on youtube which I want to see and contain some music are forbidden in my country because of some copyrights.

    it hasn´t to do with any government, just some german copyrightholders (like GEMA) want more money from youtube

    What is the most efficient way of recording in-game videos? When I do it in real time with fraps then my fps goes down. When I record a demo, play it later on and record that with fraps then e.g. a round of 5 minutes gives me a video file of 1 GB.

    How do you do this so you get "normal" file sizes?

    Unfortunately a 1 GB file is the normal size of a few minutes of HD video. If you think of how they are made up, up to 30 high quality images per second, they rack up file size quite quickly.

    To avoid lag, I recommend setting your screen resolution to 1280 x 720. It doesn't look as good in game (as it might look a bit stretched), but the file quality is fine when watching it back (and it should be about half the size). Especially if you are just going to upload it to Youtube where most people don't view videos in fullscreen anyway. Anything above 720p isn't really worth it for the majority of people.

    A while ago i used D3DGear and what it basically did was it would run alot smoother than fraps and gave much less fps lag while recording and you had the option to record in 1280x720 so basically when you upload it to youtube its already in 720p and you wouldnt have to edit and go from 480p to 720p or 1080p with the help of sony vegas, quite handy :D only downside is that you get a watermark on the top even if you got the full version. And the uploading could take a while because you don't make the file smaller.
