It started happening after a source update. Have the same problem with TF2 too.

I updated my drivers etc and for a while it was good. Happens completly randomly

That's rare, never seen such combination of models and graphical glitches.

If you you provide us with your pc specs, it might be easier to help.
From what I see, I guess it's problem with shaders. Might be damaged video card, however if it happened after update(?), there might be problem with software drivers.

    Nvidea geforce 8600 GTS

    intel core 2 cpu 6600 @ 2.4ghz

    2gb ram

Never ever had any problems untill now sad.gif I played some bioshock earlier and didnt
encounter any problems. ofcourse some days TF2 and PVK run perfectly fine too.

It was way worse after the hatless update from TF2. I thought they fixed it with the update after that. Guess not sad.gif

I am not sure, however I gonna throw in some tips:

    1) if you installed recently any drivers or system related programs, I think it might be good idea to reinstall drivers. Make sure to uninstall all video card related drivers 1st.
    2) check temperature on your video card and if there any wrong with voltages. Use http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1978/...U-Z_v0.5.3.html to check.
    3) If you have another video card, try swapping video cards, and see if the problem still happening. If still happening, might be PSU or MOBO related problem.

but yeah, I suggest to check video card temperatures and voltages when you playing PVKII (check continue to refresh while gpu-z on background). And reinstall drivers if you know what how it goes.

Sometimes just removing the GPU, and resitting it is all that is needed to fix the issue.

I have a GTX 580, and on the 2nd day I owned it, I had really terrible glitches, which even resulted in crashing.

I powered down the PC, unplugged, and then removed GPU and put it back in. I've now had my card for several months, and the issue never came back.

I read about it while googling, thought it was absurd, but it works.

I had the same issue. Only in my case it happened after a while of playing. Then it suddenly froze and started tripping. Rebooting the game fixed it.

anyway. good that you got it sorted out.

Lol, putting it in the oven. That's awesome. I once fixed my keyboard by putting it in
    the dishwasher. True story.
